This illustration celebrates the historic Procession of Saint Andrew, patron saint of Amalfi and symbol of faith, sea culture, and protection for the Amalfi people.

According to local tradition, Saint Andrew saved Amalfi from the attack of the pirate Ariadeno Barbarossa by sending a miraculous storm that stopped the Saracen invasion. To this day, the saint remains deeply connected to fishermen, the sea, and the spiritual soul of the Amalfi Coast.
